We make kits for jewelers that include everything from a simple gold plating tank kit,
to a professional plating system that will plate on non-metallics as well as normal
plating jobs. Our tools include Pens for all types of metals including rhodium. See our Tank plating kits
Tank Plating
Gold Tank
plating for jewelers is an easy 2 1/2 minute process. It takes 30 seconds to clean the
piece in our Electro-cleaner. After the piece is cleaned it is a simple 2 minute plating
step in the tank. The finish that you will get on your plating will be equal to the finish
on the piece before you plate it. In other words if the work piece has a satin
finish or a diamond cut before you plate it, then it will still have the same finish after
you plate it.
If you are plating Gold over copper, you should first plate the copper with
nickel. This will prevent the copper from bleeding through and tarnishing making
the piece look as if the gold is tarnishing.
Plating Pens
Plating Pens are one of the best tools for jewelers. You can two tone a
piece of jewelry or rhodium plate heads and over pave' work to make the diamonds stand
out. We make gold, silver, rhodium, copper and nickel plating in pen solutions. Pen or
brush plating solutions are much more concentrated than tank solutions. The two are not
interchangeable. If you sell silver charms, try gold plating just certain parts of them to
make them stand out and give a more pleasing effect.
Electroforming or Plating Non-Metallic items
How would you like to be able to make jewelry out of organic items without
casting? Or wouldn't it be nice to be able to grow the mounting on a crystal cluster or
something who's shape makes it impossible to work on. Well that is w
hat
electroforming is all about. You can form copper, nickel or gold on any non-metallic
surface even a leaf off of a tree. At the left is an actual live orchid electroformed in
gold. At the right is real butterfly that was electroformed. Both of these items were
sprayed with a clear lacquer before electroforming to help hold their shape until the
process was finished. Also the clear lacquer protects the butterflies wings on the front
since they would be exposed.
